Deloitte Ride Across Britain

The Deloitte Ride Across Britain is a corporate challenge with a difference.  The event is a gruelling 9 day cycle ride in June covering 950 miles, including some of the hilliest (and most beautiful) terrain in the country.  There will be approximately 600 riders taking part, including 100 Deloitte staff and clients, in support of Deloitte's bid to raise £1m for ParalympicsGB.

 

There will be seven people from Deloitte Manchester riding in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain in 2011 - Heather Bamforth (Reorganisation Services), Leanne Basson (Audit), Matt Beaman (Audit), Jo Green (Consulting), Rob Howells, Yvonne Lorimer (both Reorganisation Services) and Andrew Shepherd (Tax).

ParalympicsGB

ParalympicsGB receive no funding for its core activites, and so have to raise funds to ensure the British team receive the preparations they need and deserve to perform at their best when it matters most.  Training camps, medical provisions, transportation, kit and media training are just a few of the elements ParalympicsGB has to provide to prepare the British team for the Paralympic Games and remove the pressures of a home Games.

 

With ParalympicsGB hoping to take over 300 athletes to compete in London, compared to 200 athletes who competed in Beijing, they need as much help as possible to enable them to compete at the highest level.

Deloitte Disability Sport

Deloitte Disability Sport is Deloitte's award winning programme that encourages and supports disabled people on their journey through sport - from participation, through performance, to the podium.  ParalympicsGB are facing the most crucial opportunity in their history - a home Paralympic Games.  This once in a lifetime event gives them the chance to make a lasting difference to Paralympic sport and perceptions of disability in the UK, but they need help to make that happen.
