Story
I am keen to raise money for Invest in M.E., who are funding biomedical research into this devastating disease. Their planned drug trial of Rituximab, if successful, could mean that thousands of people could effectively, 'get their lives back'. Please see their website for further info.
I was diagnosed with M.E in January 2011 after a series of neurological problems, including chronic fatigue and nerve pain. I have 'moderate' M.E. and while there have been some improvements to my health with 'better' days, the fluctuating nature of the illness means that I do have frequent relapses. I always try and look on the bright side of life, and hope that one day this awful illness will simply disappear; but until research finds out what causes this illness, how to treat it and hopefully cure it, then that is a bit of a pipe dream for the majority of people with M.E. Until then, I live my life the best that I am able and thank God for the small mercy that I do not have 'severe' M.E., which has left people bedridden and in unimaginable pain, for years.
Because running a marathon is out of the question for me, I decided that I would try and sell my art hoops. I bought my first sewing machine in January 2013 and started experimenting with free motion embroidery - I was instantly hooked! Thankfully, this is a hobby which allows me to pace myself and do as and when I am able.
