Story
David reached the grand old age of 60 last year and Debbie will be joining him this year. We both decided to do something memorable to celebrate the occasion. We have been lucky enough to enjoy reasonable health but have recently lost a number of friends to cancer. We have been supporters of St Giles, our local hospice for some years so we know very well the fantastic work they do providing help and support to cancer sufferers and their families. The opportunity to take part as 2 of the 20 people trekking in Vietnam in 2013 to celebrate 30 years of the good work at the hospice provided us with our memorable event which we hope will be more memorable by the amount of money we raise.
We have been in Vietnam for 9 days and spent 5 of them trekking in the Vietnam mountains, most days averaging 7 hours trek in hot and humid conditions. We have seen some fantastic scenery and have learnt a lot about Vietnamese culture, both in the urban sprawl of New and Old Hanoi and also in the rural areas of the Pu Luong nature reserve where we have lived with the Vietnamese people in Homestays in their villages. A really memorable experience. If you would like to read more about the trek and look at some of the hundreds of photographs the trek team took then go to http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blog/stgilesvietnam/1/tpod.html#create-book
Most of all we want to raise lots of money for the Hospice. We have self funded our trip so all the money we raise can be gift aided, making it even more valuable for the Hospice. We do hope you can support us
