Story
I want to raise money for Macmillan because they offer a lifeline to people facing a myriad of problems caused by the nightmare that is cancer.
In September 2011, our friend Karen attempted to climb Snowdon but despite her monumental effort she was forced to turn back when the weather made it impossible to continue. She had hoped to return to complete the climb but is unable to do so now so we are going to reach the summit for her!
We are a group of Karen's friends of varying ability (and that includes those of us out of shape and scared of heights) many of whom have undergone treatment for breast cancer but what we lack in fitness we more than make up for in determination.
On June 1st 2013 we will complete the Life Climb that Karen would have dearly loved to do. Going up a mountain is a great symbol of the enormity faced when you get that diagnosis of cancer. I'm looking forward to the challenge of my first mountain after treatment finished and chuffed that I'll be doing that in the company of virtual friends in the (fleece wrapped) flesh.
