In February 2006, just over 3 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer, my Mum tragically lost her fight. The support Macmillan give during those few weeks was amazing and really made a difference to her and the rest of the family in that precious time.

Sadly, Cancer is something which we pray won’t affect us but we know it could impact each and every one of us, our friends or families and whilst we make progress on cures, we need to help provide specialist support to families and friends.

For a long time I have wanted to do something to say thank you to Macmillan for helping my Mum as well as friends and other family members.

My sister in-law spotted it and I thought the Hadrian's Wall Trekathon 2014 is the ideal opportunity for me to really push and challenge myself both in training and on the day and more importantly to give something back in memory of my Mum by raising money through sponsorship to help support others through Macmillan.
