Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This event started following a family friends, Suzanne, New Year Resolution for 2012. Her wonderfully thought out resolution was to do as many miles as possible for Yorkhill Children's Foundation charity. This was to involve cycling, spin classes, half marathons, 10ks, West Highland way, walking many munroes.... and a SkyDive. As initially I didn't really fancy the 96 miles of the WHW or a 13 mile jog I offered to accompany Suzanne on the shortest event, the SkyDive (only 10,000 feet all be it straight down).

Whilst at the the time many reasons were given for the charity drove i.e. reason to get fit and lose weight, the underlying reason for Suzanne and myself was to raise money to help the magnificent work done by the Schiehallion Ward at Yorkhill Chilsdren's Hospital in Glasgow.

The Schiehallion Ward was where my nephew Andrew, at the age of 12, was traeted whilst he bravely and courageously fought leukaemia. Andrew, his mother Lesley and also his sisters Sarah and Cheryl obviously spent a lot of time at the Schiehallion Ward during his treatement for cancer. Despite the obvious sadness surrounding the reasons for them all being there and Andrew not beating his brave fight against the illness they still have happy memories of the people there and all they did for Andrew and the support for them during that difficult time.

As parents we can never imagine being in that position, but by giving generously to Yorkhill Children's Foundation we can all help those who do find themselves requiring the support of all those wonderfully caring & loving people at the Schiehallion Ward.
