Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have just taken part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain which involved 970mls of cycling over 9 days between Lands End & John O' Groats.
During the journey I met many people raising substantial amounts for charity. Now, I have never raised any money for a charity previously, so I feel obliged to shake the 'collection can' on behalf of Breakthrough Breast Cancer !
I appreciate that in these austere times budgets are tight but please pity my sore backside & 6 lbs weight loss by rewarding my efforts with a donation. Any amount will do ...... no matter how small.
Although riding through some inspirational scenery the route was physically and mentally demanding especially days 5 & 7. After an early start on Day 5 the weather turned bad with cold rain and I had underestimated the amount of layers to wear. The early start also coincided with rush hour near Wigan and I could not generate much warmth by cycling fast and this resulted in me nearly going into hypothermia ...... I kid you not, my arms were shaking on the handlebars and I was saved by another cyclist who lent me some kit. Day 7 was also memorable for the big distance of 135 mls over Rannoch Moor and the eerie Glencoe into a headwind and gusting rain for nearly all the stage. Everyone had to dig deep that day.
I know several people who have been affected by Breast Cancer, so hope the work of Breakthrough will bring a future cure to fruition.
Many thanks in anticipation !
David
