Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

My dad has Atrial Fibrillation (AF), a major cause of strokes and heart attacks, which he only discovered after suffering a TIA ("mini stroke"). I also never knew one of my grandfathers as he died of a heart attack when I was 3. The BHF is funding research into understanding AF better and preventing heart attacks.

Although you probably already know that I enjoy cycling, this will be a massive challenge for me. Riding 100 miles from Winchester to Eastbourne on a mountain bike, with 40% of the height of Mt Everest to climb (about the same as the altitude difference between base camp and peak!), hills of more than 25% gradient, all within a maximum time limit of 16 hours, is going to be difficult, require lots of training and probably involve a fair bit of suffering.

Thanks to Nadja for supporting me in doing this by sparing me both on the day and for all the training over the preceding 8 months, and potentially driving me around the country for the day!

If you're able to sponsor me, I'd be hugely grateful and it will help save lives and keep families together. Please don't forget to use gift aid if you're eligible.  JustGiving won't sell your details on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to BHF. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
