Story

‘In memory of Alan John Fuller, Churchill Transplant Unit - Renal Medical Ward (0254)'

This year Gleeds is celebrating 130 years in business. To mark the occasion, we’re aiming to fundraise £130,000 for charities across the world in one week. We’ve called our initiative the Gleeds Global Challenge.

Between 21st – 25th September each of our 56 global offices will spend a day completing a challenge they’ve set themselves, raising money for a charity they’ve chosen.

The race is on…

On Friday 25th September, staff in our London office will be competing against one another - and the clock - to conquer the ‘South Down Way’ from Winchester to Eastbourne in the quickest time.

We’ll be cycling, running and hiking differing distances along some of the hilliest and gruelling terrain in Southern England

Some of us however, myself included, who are locationally challenged to the South Downs will be taking part in a similar event but in London walking along the Thames Path, taking in the sights and visiting the Gleeds projects we have built over the past 20 years in the quickest possible time. The trek will follow the South Bank from the O2 to Nine Elms and will be completed during the working day (we hope)

Fighting cancer

All funds raised will be donated to Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals Charitable Funds in memory of our colleague, Alan Fuller, who had recently passed away having suffered from Burkitts Lymphoma (a form of cancer).

Alan received outstanding care from Oxford Radcliffe during his time there, and supporting us in this challenge, would mean, the charitable funds received by the hospital, would be able to provide additional specialist equipment, medical care and support for patients, of which may not be available on the NHS.
