Ok, less than a day left before we step up and cycle down to Brighton. How will I do? Send in some money to find out!
For some reason I'm back in the saddle to do this years L2B with the Two Tyred Team. Last year was an amazing success, both in terms of how much was raised and the fact that I made it in one piece! I even cycled up the Beacon which was way beyond what I thought I could do. This year I'd like to beat my time, so anything under 6 hours will be a win as far as I'm concerned...
If you support the BHF for their great work, or just like the idea of me in lycra, then do donate - every last penny counts, and it would be brilliant if we could smash our team target of £1000.
11/06/12 - THE FINAL WEEK! Once more, my story is of apathy and a fairly Laissez-faire approach to this Sundays jaunt... However, on Saturday a few of us did go for a MASSIVE hill strewn training ride... Which very quickly devolved into a bumble along the seafront instead. However - it turns out that riding into 20-25mph head winds is surprisingly hard, and we earned our cup of tea at the end! So far this has been the second longest ride - I have done a 25 mile loop once, and the dyke a good few times (not that good though), so maybe... just maybe I will make the distance on the 17th. Donate and keep tuning in to find out...
Also - So far the biggest obstacles I've encountered are (in no particular order):
Beer, Lack of Fitness, Laziness, A Bollard, Losing a Glove, and the Weather. Aside from the Weather, these are all things within my power to change - Motivate me with money and I'll see what I can do... (and who cares about a bit of rain, ay?)
09/05/12 - Well, A few more little rides. Still no big one. Time is running out and so will my breath be on the day. It sounds like everyone else on the team has been churning out 20-100mile rides as a regular thing. My longest is.... 9....
What could go wrong?!
17/04/12 - Oh dear god have I been lax... Have done a few little rides since the seafront, most recently up to the race course last night after work with Al Loveridge... Impressed and surprised I got up to the top, but a little disappointed to find that while my heart was wizzing along at a mile a minute by the half way mark, Al's was barely above normal... Which leads me to think that at it's normal rate, his heart barely beats at all. It's either that or I'm really out of shape, but it just couldn't be that... Could it?
27/03/12 - Had a great training ride today with Debs and the Als - about 15 miles in about an hour... Lots of pedestrians in the way, not to mention teeny tiny dogs... But lots of fun and has shown me just how amazingly unfit I am as oh my god I'm worn out! Watch this space for more remarkably exciting* updates....
