Fundraising for RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Too many people are still drowning. More than ever we need the RNLI's help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe. RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They are the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands. And the RNLI safety teams and educators working tirelessly to stop people getting into trouble in the first place.
I have always had such an admiration for incredible services
that the RNLI offer to everyone, from being a young boy holidaying on the coast in the North where I previously lived, to growing up and appreciating even more what is involved in running the RNLI.
My wife and I moved to Devon in December 2021. We live in
Exmouth and whereas I was a regular visitor to the coast (I was landlocked in Sheffield!), we now get to appreciate what the coast really has to offer. We get to walk on the seafront every single day and also have both now become very keen kayakers and sea swimmers.
We live 20 minutes’ walk to the RNLI station in Exmouth and
each time I will stop and just admire the awe of what the RNLI means. This is a charity that I know would be there should my wife and I, our families and friends and the public ever get in to difficulty.
My admiration and appreciation has grown every day since we
moved to Exmouth. We often walk to the seafront to see the crew and ground crew on exercise on a Wednesday evening and seeing what actually goes in to launching either the inshore lifeboat or the all-weather lifeboat. Alongside the Lifeboat operations, there are the RNLI volunteer Lifeguards, who themselves monitor the bathing areas to ensure the safety of all. The dedication and hard work is incredible. At the same time in the knowledge that this is a charity. These are volunteers that will risk their own lives for others.
The RNLI is an emergency service that has no Government
fundraising at all! The charity costs millions of pounds to run. And all this through donations alone. Without the raising of awareness of the incredible services the RNLI provides and the huge efforts that go in to fundraising, the RNLI could not operate and lives will sadly be lost.
It is an incredible honour for me to represent the RNLI at
the London Marathon 2024 and to do my part in ensuring these services can continue for many many years to come.
I am a volunteer tour guide for the RNLI in Exmouth. Guiding
the public around the Lifeboat station and boats for free tours. Why? Because I want to give something back and contribute to the amazing work and reassurances the crew, ground staff and fellow volunteers give. But in addition to this, to aise awareness of the RNLI’s incredible work and to raise awareness of your safety at sea.
I have a genuine passion for the RNLI because I can see in
far more detail now, what this charity provides. But we need your help please.
Please support me in what is an incredible challenge of the London Marathon 2024 and to raise funds for the RNLI to continue in SAVING LIVES AT SEA.
For anyone who has visited the coast or is visiting the coast,
you will know how vital this service is. Please support us.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for every
single one of the donations I receive. Assurances too, that every single penny donated will go to the RNLI. No matter how small or large your donation, you are making a huge contribution to the RNLI and all that they stand for.
Many thanks again for all your support
Dave
