Our Story
We are a group of 40 (and one 50) something's who for the past few years have decided to do various challenges. These have included the Great North run, the Great North swim and other charity events events involving some degree of pain!
On April 19th to April 21st 2013, we will embark on the Coast to Coast bike ride. This ride will take us 142 miles, from Workington to Sunderland, and will push us to our limits over the mountainous Lake District and Pennines.
As locals to the Seven Stars in Eccleston, we have spent many a time watching the Saints rugby team, going back to the time when Steve Prescott first began to dominate his full back position. Like everyone else in St.Helens and the rugby world, we were truly shocked when Steve was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei, a rare form of cancer.
Steve has since set up the Steve Prescott Foundation, where through various challenges he has raised thousands for The Christie (one of only two national specialist hospitals that specialises in Pseudomyxoma Peritonei in GB) and Try Assist (Previously known as The Rugby League Benevolent Fund, and aims to support players whose lives are affected by serious injuries while playing the game of Rugby League), two organisations that continue to help Steve through a difficult time.
We “seven stars” are looking for contributions, no matter how small, to donate to the Steve Prescott Foundation.
Thanks
Dave, Diane, Rich, Carole, Phil, Jill and Sid
