Story
As many of you all know my family has been really affected by Cancer in this last 3 years. It all starting with a wonderful woman called Margie. My children’s great nan or as they called her Nanzo. My family saw her suffer as the Bowel cancer took her from us far too soon.
A few months later my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 28. A summer of chemotherapy and radiotherapy was ahead of us, but as my family were thinking it couldn't get any worse, it did; My dad was diagnosed with inoperable throat cancer. This meant my wife and my Dad were passing each other in and out of treatment sessions and it was during this time whilst at Clatterbridge Hospital I was introduced to Macmillan. They offered help, support and advice not only to my wife and Dad but all our family to help with the effect of the treatment. Macmillan also offered financial support which gave me the opportunity to be there for my family during the hardest times. My Dad also had a Macmillan nurse who helped him through every step of his treatment all the way until he couldn't fight anymore.
On the 1st of April 2012 my family climbed Montana Roja in Tenerife and we scattered my Dad’s ashes and this is when I decided to try and give something back by climbing something bigger and more challenging, something like Mount Kilimanjaro.
Macmillan need all the money they can get. If you have ever or any family member has been effected by Cancer this charity would have played some part in helping in some way. If you could please find a way to help me raise as much money as possible, even if it’s a £1, each £1 will make a difference and help this charity to continue their great work and help they offer.
