Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page for the Capontree Vet Centre Coniston Challenge 2011.

On 10th September 2011 our team of 6 vets and nurses from Capontree Vets, Brampton successfully completed a 10km hike up the Old Man of Coniston, a 17km bike ride around Grizedale Forest and a 3km kayak on Coniston Water, all in 1 day!

Dan, Colin, John, Ellie. Kathryn and Fiona battled heavy mist and zero visibility on the hike; persistent rain, slipping chains & punctures on the bike ride and strong winds & choppy waters on the kayak. There were stumbles, slips, cramps and a particularly memorable capsize (nice one Dan). Triumphing over adversity with the provision of zero-calorie energy drinks (Dan again...). Yet, despite all this, we completed the course in 5 hours 15 minutes (11th placed team out of 45) and are incredibly proud to have raised over £2500 for the Guide Dogs.

We couldn't done it without the support of everyone who helped along the way, so to every single person who gave their time and donations -

Thank You all so much.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
