Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 27 March, I will be joining a number of local business people to sleep rough for the night in Cardiff. I am hoping that some of my ski gear, which I am fortunate to own, will help to keep me warm, hence the photo. I have barely camped, let alone slept out in the open in the cold and wet without bedding.
I am doing this not only to raise awareness of homelessness, but also to try and get some personal understanding, albeit limited, of what it must be like to have to sleep rough. Given the dreadful winter that we have experienced, I cannot really imagine how bad it must be.
We take so many things for granted. It is shocking how people can become homeless. My late Uncle was an intelligent, well educated man. He was also bi-polar. He was fortunate enough to have had family support around him during his life, but I have no doubt that he would have ended up on the streets without that support. Others are not so fortunate, so please help me in trying to help them.
Many thanks
Damian
