Thanks
for visiting my JustGiving page.
Having turned 40 earlier in the year, I wanted to mark the occasion by doing something a bit special.
In September I will be attempting to complete the
156 mile Trans Britain Marathon. (The wife calls it my mid-life crisis!)
This six day foot race starts at Robert the Bruce's Cave in Scotland and works south through the Cumbria mountains, into North Yorkshire before finishing in North Wales. This off-road
event is the equivalent of
6 marathons in six days, climbing up to 5
peaks per day and with 3 legs of ultra distance, all whilst carrying all
the kit needed for the week. Oh, and navigating, which has proven to be a problem for me!

In doing this, with your support, I will be raising money
for Teach Africa, a charity set up to to make a difference to the lives of
teenagers in the
slums.
50% of teenagers in one of the poorest regions in
will never see their 25th birthday due to the exceptionally high incidence of
drug and alcohol fuelled rape leading to an AIDS epidemic.
I am lucky to be the father of two wonderful daughters, the eldest of which is the same age as the children we are trying to help. The ambitions they have for themselves can only be achieved through education. The children of Nairobi deserve the same chance.
Teach Africa provides a future to
children who would otherwise have no future and little life expectancy, through education, by supporting the to take its pupils into quality secondary
schools. Lifting them out of poverty and helping to develop the doctors,
architects and engineers of ’s
future.
