On the 20th June a group of 16 HP current and ex employees will be running the last section of the South West Coast Path, having completed the other two sections in previous years.

We will be running from Plymouth to Poole along the coast path in a 48 hours non-stop relay. A total of 220 miles, 34,895ft (10,636m) total height climbed and 5 river crossings.

We are doing this run to raise money and awareness for this year's HP Bristol site charity: Children's Hospice South West

Children’s Hospice South West provides the only hospice care in the South West for children with life-limiting conditions. Sadly this means that these children are not expected to survive into adulthood. With three hospices in the South West, Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in Mid Cornwall the charity supports more than 400 families as well as a growing number of bereaved families.  The hospices provide a lifeline for those children and their families who have to cope with the most difficult of situations by offering respite breaks, emergency care and end of life care.

Family life changes forever when a child is diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness. Parents, who often give up work to care for their sick child, face challenges that can threaten their relationship, whilst brothers and sisters can feel confused, left out and alone.  Children’s Hospice South West gives a family the chance to take a break from their daily routine of care, giving them the opportunity to spend quality time together as a family and to rest before returning home.

Although thankfully very few of us will ever have to cope with the loss of a child, there are far too many who will.  Your donation will help make the most of short and precious lives across the South West.
