Story
Just as we came back to school, after the summer holidays in 2012, we were rocked by the news that one of my class, Issy Miller, had Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
She went through treatment so bravely and without complaining, making wiggly bags and raising money for children who were 'really ill' and then had a transplant at Christmas. It all went amazingly well, and Issy was back in school within a few weeks, record time. We were all thrilled and she settled straight back in, achieving great things and making our class complete again.
She started Year 6 last September, and continued to work really hard and make us all laugh with her squeaky voice and infectious giggle.
Nothing could have prepared us for the devastating news that came at Christmas 2013; the cancer had come back...and Issy had very little time left.
At the age of just 10, 'Little Hero' Issy died and I had to break the news to her heartbroken friends and classmates.
I have never had to do anything so hard, and running the Marathon seems like nothing compared to what Issy, her family and her friends have gone through. She never complained and she worked tirelessly to try and help others...please help me to carry on her great work. Xxx
