Story
So in a moment of sheer madness I agreed to walk up Mount Snowden to help raise money for NWBBM to buy a milk bike. Since I have the athletic ability of a tree this is some challenge for me.
Why I’m doing this walk: Earlier this year NWBBM launched the Merlin Milk Bike Fund with a £10k target to buy a new milk bike which will be used by volunteers to make deliveries of donor breast milk. My personal reason, well, Mair Wallroth was an inspirational lady, not much older than myself, she worked at Manchester Council, unfortunately Mair found out she had breast cancer whilst she was pregnant with her 2 baby, this meant unlike with her first, she would be unable to breast feed, so she opted to use donor breast milk, however our nearest milk bank is in Chester, so from the birth of baby Merlin, NWBBM collected the milk for him every week and delivered it to their home for free. I didn’t know Mair but I did make one of the deliveries and we had a great chat about birthing stories and work, she was lovely and we got on great. Tragically Mair lost her fight with cancer in December so in her memory and in dedication to our first milk baby we decided to raise money to buy our first Milk Bike – as for me, well I figure walking up a hill (mountain) in comparison is the least I can do.
