As you know, I'll be spending December in Thailand volunteering on the GVI Thai Elephants Project. Asian elephants are a highly endangered species; however, many are forced to work long hours to generate revenue for their owners. The Thai Elephants Project is creating a new future for these elephants by supporting a community's efforts to return their elephants to live in the forest. Currently the project is supporting a herd of 5 elephants, but wants more elephants to enjoy this natural and healthy existence in the forest.

On Christmas Day this year, I'm going to attempt the 10km Chiang Mai City Mini Marathon!Our target: to rescue 1 elephant and sponsor them for 2 years in the forest programme.

The team target is 5000GBP. I am aiming to raise 350GBP. This covers the costs of medical emergencies, mahout and basic care, and money to supplement lost income of a family from not working their elephant. Your donations would be greatly appreciated.

Once we reach our target, an elephant can return to live naturally in the forest.
