Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. By visting my page and spreading awarness we are 1 step closer to finding a cure to Crohns Disease.

Crohns Disease is believed to be autoimmune disease. It is a bowel disease  (WITH NO CURE) that can effect anywhere in the disgestive track, including from the mouth to the anus.

It causes symptoms such as:

  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Abdominal pain and cramping
  • Blood in your stool
  • Mouth sores
  • Reduced appetite and weight loss
  • Pain or drainage near or around the anus due to inflammation from a tunnel into the skin (fistula)

Other signs and symptoms

People with severe Crohn's disease also may experience:

  • Inflammation of skin, eyes and joints
  • Inflammation of the liver or bile ducts
  • Delayed growth or sexual development, in children
I personally suffer, from a number of these symtoms on a daliy basis! its painful, it's a struggle and its depressing to feel like this all the time.

I have had Crohns Disease for 6 years. It has been one hell of a ride and now i've had enough of being managed, i want a cure!!! I want to eat what i want, drink what i want, not be in pain and just live my life and do everthing and anything that healthy people take for granted!!

THIS VACCINE COULD CURE ME AND OTHERS WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS DEBILITATING DISEASE!!  YOUR DONATIONS COULD HELP CURE US, PLEASE.

Any donation of any size or any currency is greatly appreciated, all money goes directly to the chairty! OR JUST PLEASE SHARE MY JUSTGIVING PAGE AND HELP RAISE AWARENESS!!

I created this page for "World MAP DAY - 15th March"  in the hopes that together we could cure Crohn's Disease.

World Map Day is a realtivly new day, it is  "a day to share news of advances in the battle against an insidious pathogen which increasing evidence points to as a cause of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) called Crohns.

A bit on what MAP is:

What is MAP?

MAP is proven to cause Johne’s Disease, a form of inflammatory bowel disease affecting domestic livestock, which is strikingly similar to Crohn’s Disease. MAP is a type of bacteria: Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP). It belongs to a family of bacteria called ‘Mycobacteria’, which also includes Tuberculosis and Leprosy.

Historically, MAP in humans has been difficult to study as it cannot be seen under an ordinary microscope and is very difficult to grow. Testing for MAP by the presence of its DNA (using PCR) has found MAP in up to 92% of Crohn’s patients but until now no-one has developed a test to show MAP in-situ in the tissues of people with Crohn’s disease. With the new MAP test developed by Prof. Hermon-Taylor, we are seeing it in intricate detail for the very first time.

The test is an essential ‘companion diagnostic’ for the Vaccine trial; a simple blood test allowing doctors to confirm MAP infection prior to vaccination and monitor patients’ responses to the vaccine. Validation of the new test is almost complete.
