Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Two years ago we lost our beloved Black Jack. He was a black collie-labrador cross who was adopted from The Dog's Trust at Kenilworth as a puppy. We bought him home aged 13 weeks, he spent 9 happy years being loved by all the family, grandparents included., but unfortunately we lost lost Black Jack in August 2007.

This summer we decided we were ready to adopt another dog, and went back to Kenilworth to visit The Dog's Trust. Due to our work coommittments we could not have a puppy. Ruby (not her original name) caught our eye. She is a chocolate and white collie-pointer cross and does have some simillar features to Black Jack. She was just over 1 year old when we adopted her and she still has some growing up to do - she looks quite puppy like at times. She was very timid at The Dog's Trust and seemed wary of everyone. It took a while but she soon began to recognise us and accept some fuss.

We have been home 2 months now and Ruby is enjoying herself. It has not been easy as she has some habits that have needed time, patience and determination on our part to correct. She can be a little monkey and will pinch and chew all sorts of things when not watched or occupied, but she can also sleep curled up at our feet for ages, quite content.

The Dog's Trust have given us two lovely additional family members and if it wasn't for their work neither Black Jack or Ruby would have had a chance at having a loving, fun life. By doing the 6 mile walk with Ruby we are hoping to give back something to the Trust to say thank you and to help other dogs who need new homes.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
