Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Holly was diagnosed with Crohn's disease February 2016 after suffering for 6 agonising months.  It all started at the start of the summer holidays, when she started complaining about stomach cramps, i didn't think too much of it as she was out and about bike riding, i just thought it was because she was using muscles she hadn't used before! Then she was getting mouth ulcers and acid indegestion, so i told her off for eating too many sweets and drinking coke!! The main worry was when she started to go off her food, to the point of where she would pick her fork up and slowly put it in her mouth and then whince in pain as she digested it. she had lost weight, but i didnt realise how much, she had dropped from a size 12 to a size 6 in 6 weeks, never in my life did i ever think that a few months later she would be diagnosed with crohn's, i felt my heart had been ripped into a thousand pieces. Then i heard about Crohn's MAP vaccine, i feel there is light at the end of the tunnel

I have decided to start raising money to support the Crohn's MAP vaccine so that hopefully one day in the not too distant future Holly and everyone who has Crohn's will have the chance to be cured.  This vaccine has been developed by Professor Hermon Taylor at Kings College London.   It has been successful in animal testing and is very likely to work in humans. The money is now needed to allow the human trials to go ahead.  This vaccine could be available within the next 5 years.  In a nutshell, it is a bacteria called MAP which is believed to cause Crohn's, the bacteria is found in cattle, and thought to be passed to humans through the food chain, via milk, water, and undercooked meat.  This vaccine will potentially kill MAP and make the person immune to further MAP infection.

Please help us make this vaccine a reality.  Without
donations this can't happen and it has to.  More and more young
children are being diagnosed with Crohn's all the time.  It could affect
 anyone...even you, or you children.

Every penny counts.
