Story

Journey's end...

At around 9.10am on Saturday the 12th of May our adventure finished. We had clocked up around 86 hours in the saddle during our 1000 mile trip. A couple of sore days, a couple of wet days and one day where sanity had to be questioned. But we did it. I am amazed at the generosity of our supporters and the difference the funds make to the charity is staggering. I thank you all.

On a personal note it was one amazing trip and I am available to bore you at any given time, complete with photos. To those of us who followed the trip on Twitter (@n2b2010) we hope we brought some smiles and it was hard work - it just seemed like it was actually a cake eating tour!

Here is how it begun....

Since I can remember I have heard my nephew Matt ask "am I going to Parasol tomorrow mum?". Matt has Williams Syndrome which is a complex collection of behavioural and learning challenges. But that is only one part of Matt - he is also about as much fun and joy as you could get in a human being. But that fun and joy needs an outlet and Parasol is certainly that.

The Parasol Project is an Oxford based charity committed to redressing the balance for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people experiencing, or at risk of, social exclusion. That's the official word - but at the end of the day it is a place that gives Matt and many other children like him great fun.

Like many charities their funding has been slashed over the past couple of years so they rely on the generosity of people willing to donate time and money to keep the project operating.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
