Story
I work at Bishop Fleming and in our centenary year we have set the target of raising £100,000 for charity.
I am taking part in two of our events - the Three Peaks Challenge over 24 hours on 21 June and then walking 100 miles over 4 days culminating in the annual 31 mile Worcestershire Way in a Day from 2 to 5 July. I am a keen walker and hill-bagger but I have never attempted anything quite like this in such a short space of time.
Training has involved snowdrifts, hail, 40mph winds, rain, more rain, a lot of mud and I expect by the end, sunburn!
Hospice's like St Richard's are the cornerstone of this country's end of life care and they rely on goodwill to ensure that those who need them can get the care they need.
Over the last 10 years three members of my family have been diagnosed with cancer. I have been inspired again and again by their battles with the disease and defiance of the odds. They, we, the family, have been lucky that as yet hospice care is still something on the horizon but we know that time will eventually come.
Worcester is not my home town but as a roaming accountant I am not bound by the idea that a cause is any less important because it is a few miles away. So I am raising my banner here along with my Worcester office colleagues to ensure that cancer care can be provided wherever it is needed.
