The Beatrice Octavia Iris Smith Brighter Future Fund was set up in memory of baby Beatrice who sadly passed away on the 24th February 2014. She was diagnosed with Restrictive Cardiomyopathy, a rare disease of the cardiac muscle and was treated by the excellent cardiac specialist teams at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Both Beatrice and her family received exceptional care from everyone at GOSH. She made it to the top of the UK heart transplant list but her size, frailty and time were against her. After fighting the hardest of battles, showing strength and courage far greater than her age she could fight no more. Her heart was too tired. The team at GOSH ensured her passing was pain free and peaceful.

Any money raised in Beatrice's Brighter Future Fund will go towards a Heart and Lung Bypass machine. These machines cost a total of £166,000 and they still need to raise £43,000 so any donations will go towards this piece of vital, lifesaving equipment. Whilst for Bea it may be too late, for others like her it is not. It would be incredible to know that Bea's influence and inspiration is continuing to make such a difference to so many other poorly children and babies just like her to give them a brighter future.
