Four Chiltern Rugby Club Members with a combined age of 233 years will cycle 238 miles from Amersham & Chiltern RFC to Arnhem in 3 days to raise funds for The Parachute Regiment Charity (No. 1131977) and The Afghanistan Trust (No. 1121647). Every pound donated will go directly to these charities, plus GiftAid as appropriate.
Seventy years ago, our clubmate was awarded the Victoria Cross in the defence of the bridge at Arnhem during the closing phases of WWII.
Amersham and Chiltern RFC are taking an Under15 side and a Senior/Vets side on a Memorial Tour to play Arnhem Rugby Club as part of a series of commemorative events. Ahead of the main tour party, four club members (ex-players, coaches, refs, AGOs) are going to cycle to Arnhem to raise money to help soldiers and their families, who have served with The Parachute Regiment and been wounded or killed as a consequence.
The Chiltern Chain Gang are: Chris Smith, Mark Yeomans, Clive John and Jonathan Moughton.
The Chairman of Buckinghamshire RFU - Chris McCombie - has agreed to drive a van in support of the riders.
Please support the team in giving to the Parachute Regiment charities.
