Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The Calderdale andHuddersfield Childrens Diabetes Team are taking part in a sponsored walk on 26th June at 10:30am.

We want to help raise funds in orderto take young people with Type 1 Diabetes on an activity weekend trip.  The trip takes place in the Lake District in April 2017.

We feel the benefits of thetrip are immeasurable and allow young people to learn that undertaking physicalactivity is not detrimental to someone with diabetes.

The trip:

  • Helps young people developskills in learning how to work as part of a team and support each other.
  • Provides an opportunity for them to learn to manage their condition whilst being away from home. Observe and discuss different insulin regimes, pumps etc.
  • Helps them to make new friends, they can talk to others with diabetes and share experiences.

The young people have afabulous time, they personally challenge themselves and feel empowered and proud of their achievements.

If you can help with our fundraising or would like to join us, we would be over the moon! Thank you.

About the charity

We raise funds for all wards and departments at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, enhancing the experience of patients, their families and staff, over and above what NHS funding alone can deliver. Together we can make a real difference to local people when they need it most.
