As you probably know we sadly lost Alan in April 2010 at a fire in Shirley Towers.  The impact of the events of that night were felt in many ways. Not only at home, with his family, but especially with his colleagues in the service. Right from the start the Firefighters Charity was there to offer support and assistance where and when it was needed.  Something I myself was very grateful for. 

As such we have come together as 'Team Bert' to raise some money for this great cause.  Those of you who knew Alan will remember how passionate he was about 'the rope pack'! Therefore what better way to honour his memory than to abseil 300ft off the Spinnaker Tower! 

I have admit to being a little bit nervous at the prospect, however I'm pleased to say that I won't be doing it alone and know that the other members of the team will be just as nervous!
