We raise awareness and funds to combat the causes of homelessness

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On October 5th myself and 5 others will aim to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, not only is it a wonderful opportunity to raise money for a charity doing incredible work with orphans but its also a personal goal of mine.

Kilimanjaro is the worlds tallest freestanding Mountain at 5,895m (19,341 ft). The 6 day trek takes us through rainforests, moorlands, the lunar desert before reaching the ice fields and onto the highest point in Africa where temperatures can reach as low as - 25c.

We will be raising money for the Fine and Country Foundation which in turn supports YAAPHA (Youth in Action Against Poverty and HIV/Aids). YAAPHA is a non-profit organisation working in mainland Tanzania with the orphans and vulnerable children who have lost parents and close relatives as a result of HIV/Aids. Once we have completed the climb we will be visiting YAAPHA to understand how the money you raise effects these young people's lives.

Even the smallest donation will go along way to help change their lives so please help me in exceeding my total.

Many thanks,

Charles

About the charity

The Fine & Country Foundation has been created to help combat one of the largest social issues in the UK – homelessness. Last year, the Government estimated around 2,414 people sleep on the street on any one night across England, a rise of 36% over three years. Often the reasons for homelessness are misunderstood, with many blaming the individuals for poor life decisions and carelessness. The reality is: people become homeless for a whole range of complex and overlapping reasons that cannot be avoided, such as family breakdowns, mental or physical health problems or debts. Solving homelessness does not only involve putting a roof over people’s heads, it is also trying to tackle the root of the problem and asking the question: why did they became homeless in the first place? The Fine & Country Foundation is dedicated to bringing together all Fine & Country agents in over 300 locations worldwide to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness whilst supporting homeless charities.
