Story
In October 2012 Helen Dodd and Charity Warnes will be embarking on an adventure in support of Isabel Hospice.
Helen, Hospice Director: “I have worked for the Hospice for 20 years, starting as a Community Nurse in Bishop’s Stortford and Sawbridgeworth. Given that we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Hospice, I feel that this is a great way to mark the occasion. I will be walking with the cherished memories of Simon my nephew who was the age of 20 when he died and my niece Ella who was 43, both taken early in their lives by cancer''.
Charity, Deputy Director of Fundraising: “I started as a volunteer at Isabel Hospice in 2003 after losing my sister to cancer at the age of 43. She spent her final days in her local hospice and I don’t know what we would have done without their wonderful care, both for her and the family. I am dedicating this trek to my sister Jane.”
We will be working at a hospice in Marrakesh for 2 days, helping out with tasks such as gardening or decorating. We will then travel out into the desert where we will trek for four days, covering a total of approximately 50 miles and sleeping under the stars. Temperatures may vary from 40° during the day to 0° at night.
The cost of both treks is already covered, so every penny raised through sponsorship will directly benefit the patients and their families of Isabel Hospice. We appreciate that in these tough times everyone is being asked for money, but if you are able to donate just a small amount in support of Isabel Hospice, we would be extremely grateful.
