Story
Pass It On Africa have been fundraising to support and promote education in some of the poorest countries in Africa since September 2004.
In 2013 a small group of friends will be attempting to be the first people EVER,to paddle the 72 miles from Fecamp in France to Brighton Beach.
On Saturday 14th July 2012, during one of the longest days of the year, the team became the first people to paddle a sea rescue board continuously between Brighton's two Pier's from sunrise to sunset (approx 16.5 hours) They managed to paddle 36.32 miles.
On Saturday 22nd June 2013 11 superb paddling types made up of 4 teachers,1 paramedic,1 charity co-founder and 5 beach lifeguards paddled a half mile loop in Brighton Marina 100 times from sunrise to sunset.
The initial plan had been, like 2012's Sunrise to Sunset paddle event, to paddle between Brighton's two Piers. The weekend's weather conditons would have made this dangerous so thanks to the generous support of The Brighton Marina we managed to rescue our Sunrise to Sunset Paddle from grumpy Neptune face by paddling this stretch of the Marina.
We did this for the following 5 reasons.
1) It was a great team training run for a 72 mile Channel crossing attempt.
2) Some of them have had to go from wearing Medium to Large wet suits in the last few years.
3) We wanted to smash last year's paddle distance and establish this as another superb little Brighton based charity fundraiser.
4) No one they have spoken to thought we could beat last year's paddle distance or actually paddle the Channel.
5) It got a few of us out of weekend Dad jobs.
This 2 year,so far, project has and is costing the team approx £4,500 of their own money £2,000 to have the boards made, approx £1,000 for event kit and £1,500 for the hire of a boat and crew.
They would absolutely love their Channel paddle attempt to support lots more charities and also want to advertise any supporting businesses who might be interested in having their name or company logo on the boards.
