Story
Earlier this year we walked 45 miles over 3 days, to support breast cancer research at the University of Nottingham. Our blisters have recovered, and now we’re going put our legs (and bums) to the test, cycling 50 miles in one day along a hilly Derbyshire route.
This is a cause close to our hearts because Wester’s mother is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She discovered a tumour earlier this year and, although it is an aggressive form of cancer, her prognosis is good thanks to her own strength and diligence, but also to development in the treatment of breast cancers. However, there are still gains to be made in this area, and researchers at Nottingham have identified several areas which we hope will lead to further improvements in diagnosis and treatment of breast cancers.
Life Cycle 6 2016 aims to raise £1million. By supporting us and the other riders you can help researchers:
- create a blood test to detect breast cancer early, before it can develop;
- discover why breast cancer spreads, identifying ways to stop it, and;
- develop targeted treatments that will work best for each patient.
