Story
Support our team and help us to help Renewable World tackle
poverty in the developing world.
At Cathie Associates we recognise the importance of the
development of our world’s renewable energy resources, as well as the huge improvements in quality of life that access to energy can bring to impoverished third world communities.
Renewable World is a fantastic charity that supports the
provision of affordable renewable energy services to improve incomes, health and education in the developing world. Their goal is to encourage
self-sufficiency in these communities thus providing a long term benefit. You can find out more about the work that Renewable world does by visiting their website.
Once again this year, a team from Cathie Associates will be
taking part in Renewable World’s Earth Wind and Tyre cycling fund raising event. The event is an epic two day, 200 mile cycle ride to raise money for the Renewable World charity which tackles poverty using renewable energy.
Taking place over two days from the 25th June, the ride starts in Durham and ends in Edinburgh, passing ten onshore wind farms in celebration of the UK renewable energy industry. The scenic route passes through the stunning hills and countryside of Northumberland, the Scottish Borders and East Lothian before reaching the finishing line on Edinburgh’s iconic Royal Mile. With leg-testing climbs and euphoric views, it’s a truly grueling but spectacular event. As if the event isn’t already tough enough, Matt and Alex, two of our particularly keen riders based in our London office are planning to cycle from London to Newcastle over two days the weekend before the event. The addition will take their total distance to over 500 miles, and they’re even considering throwing in a tough climb over the North York Moors, for good measure!
The inaugural event took place last year, and Cathie Associates team of three riders managed to raise over €2000. This year we have a team of seven riders taking part in the event under the Cathie Associates flag. We’re hoping to beat our fundraising record but we need your help to maximise the impact of our effort for this worthwhile cause.
