Gordon and I are sailing round mainland Britain this summer in Juniper, our 24ft Hunter yacht, a big change from our usual sailing ground of Ullswater.  It's approximately 2,200 nautical miles and will take between 3 to 4 months.  We're doing it for our own enjoyment but one wise harbour master told us firmly that we should also be raising funds for the RNLI. 

As you know, the RNLI is an independent charity funded by voluntary donations.  They provide a 24/7 lifeboat service whatever the weather and, although we obviously hope we won't need them on our voyage, it's great to know they're there and and it's a fantastic cause to support.  The costs of running the service are huge and they need all the help we can give.
