Story
Hi! I'm Carla and I'm off to the Transplant Games in August to compete in the archery event. If that's not enough, I'll also be dressed as a medieval archer to honour my re-enactment group Wirhalh Skip Felag, part of Regia Anglorum, who supported me through my illness, visiting me in hospital, teasing me, bringing me books to read and generally being marvellous!
I had my second kidney transplant one year ago after suffering from kidney failure as a teenager. My wonderful husband Peter, (a real hero!) donated in a paired donation, and I haven't looked back!
Please sponsor me a little to support TSUK, a great charity that supports transplant patients and raises awareness of the importance of organ donation - even better - donate a little and then sign the Organ Donor register for a real 'feel good' high!
Update: 30/6/11
I will also be running in the 3 km donor run at the games this year. I shall be doing this event in full medieval kit as well (except I'll be wearing trainers!)
I have also decided to name the arrows I'll be using in the event after my top donors. I'll tell you the top scoring arrow after the games!
It's National Transplant Week next week! Read more of my story here! http://www.transplantweek.co.uk/carla-maclean.html Peter's story will be up next week.
