Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm a volunteer with YAC helping out when I can on sessions and exploring days. YAC has over 60 members and create sessions on all sorts of archaeological and historical topics, from Stonehenge to World War I, digging to testing historical recipes.

YAC is the only archaeology club in the UK for 8-16 year olds and also offers support to 17 and 18 year olds as Helpers in different branches.

Whenever I volunteer I am always struck by the level of enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge held by YAC youngsters and often learn a thing to or too from them myself!

Archaeology offers young people so many different possibilities and benefits, not least exploring our different pasts and cultures but also broadening out to wider topics like politics and ethics.

In the current financial climate it is a continuing struggle for groups and clubs such as YAC to keep offering these inspiring young people a safe, stimulating and FUN way of learning about the things they really love.
