Story

CPMG Charity Walk 2016

The story starts back in 2009, with over 40 people successfully completing the arduous 42 mile Lyke Wake Walk across the North Yorkshire Moors in 24 hours, to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Since then, the CPMG Charity Walk has become a regular event, attracting participation and support from individuals, businesses and organisations in the East Midlands.

For 2016, we have set the White Peak Challenge - a one-day 27 mile circular walk from Bakewell, taking in some of the most beautiful areas of the Peak District, including the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, Birchover, Lathkill Dale, the Limestone Way and the Monsal Trail.

The mobile tuck shop will be present as ever to resuscitate weary walkers at checkpoints along the route!

This year we are especially proud to be fundraising in support of the Radford Care Group, who provide invaluable day care and activities for the frail elderly in Nottingham. We are aiming to raise in excess of £3000 to support the Centre's activities - please give generously if you can.

About the charity

Our aim is to alleviate loneliness in older people, whether they be independent or have care support needs such as dementia. We do this by ensuring they and their carers belong within the community, have better access to quality care, support, and information, to improve their health and wellbeing.
