36 hrs to go. bike back from the fixers, mars bars packed, udder cream tested. really looking forward to the ride, but I reserve the right to moan incessantly from Sunday onwards. thanks again for all the support x
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My enthusiasm knew no bounds when encouraging colleagues about to embark on their little bike ride... until they 'suggested' that I join them ! With somewhat lesser enthusiasm I typed up some words apologetically offering to take part, with the full expectation that the ride would be fully subscribed. I then did what every good emailer knows not to do - I clicked send rather than save as draft.
Next thing I know I have 6 weeks to go from an average of 0 miles per day on a bike to close to 50 miles a day for 3 days... No problem they say, you sit down for a living !!!
So, the plan is to go from the glorious Lake District, up and over a hill (the Pennines !) and down the other side to Sunderland. On the way, embarrass those not taking part, into supporting MNDA - a very worthwhile cause (that's you if you hadn't guessed !)
For my part, I promise to take in the scenery, maybe sample some local food and beer and pick up some culture along the way... Oh, and attempt to not pass out every 5 miles !
You probably know me if you are seeing this page, and as such, you know the challenge this will be given my current level of fitness. So please contribute something and I promise you will get a mention in my self-penned obituary, expected to be read out somewhere around Keswick !
