Story
After visiting Cambodia last year witnessing first hand the poverty, how families with very little lived and seeing children with virtually nothing but rags to wear was a heartbreaking situation. Learning the history of Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge years and talking with victims of land mine bombs with the most horrific injuries was a very emotional experience. Despite all the poverty the Cambodian people were the most friendly and humble people we have ever met and were happy just to be free and at peace, it really made us appreciate how lucky we are in the U.K and how we can take things for granted. After our visit we really wanted to help end the poverty in Cambodia and this is why we are supporting the CCF, because they do life-changing work for suffering children and familes in Cambodia. They want to end poverty and create positive change in Cambodia through intervention and education for the most impoverished and underserved children and families.
We sponsor a little girl who is 5 years old at the CCF and in January 2014 myself and Alex Guy will be returning to Cambodia and we will be visiting the CCF to see their amazing work and visit our sponsored child in person. As a gift that matters we will be taking our sponsored child and a small group of children assisted by the CCF on a big day out which will be very special for them and a day out they won't forget. We will also be volunteering at the CCF and helping out at the nightly food programme which involves serving meals to community children in need of help. As sponsorship we would like to raise funds by asking if people could kindly donate the cost of a meal which we will be serving to the children at the nightly food programme. We will also be taking part in fundraising activities over the next few months with our colleagues at BP Raunds and Northampton Garden Centre and we will keep page updated with how we are doing.
It is a personal challenge to help raise awareness and raise as much funds as possible for this very deserving charity.
At the start of our fundraising campaign the CCF were in desperate need of buses to help transport children safely to school, it would be wonderful to raise $20,000 for the CCF so that they could buy a bus if still needed before we visit in January. When $150 can feed 450 children at the nightly food programme, we will be happy for any funds we raise to be used to help fund the nightly food programme or for the CCF to use funds raised for the greatest need such as food, clothes, medicine, books and education for the children.
Please help support our campaign with any donation you can, small change makes a big difference.
