Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As we all enter the festive period and begin to look back over the year, I think its important that we make time to appreciate our loved ones. However, I believe its equally important to make time to think about those who unfortunately cannot spend time with theirs.
Its obvious to all that the NHS is under great strain during this turbulent economic time and I believe that those that can help should help. Children's Hospital Wards throughout the country do a great job providing care to those that are in need of it. This care is even more so required at a time of year when its very important to a make a childs stay in hospital as special as possible.
This is exactly why we have come up with this difficult task in order to collect money for such a worthy cause. The challenge in itself is a daunting one but with the proper training it is achievable !!
There will be an individual event for myself (Sgt "Robbie" Garthland Royal Marines) and two other members of the Physical Training Staff at HMS Raleigh, (Physical Training Instructors "Baz" Chambers, "Ollie" Perkins and "Phil" Mant Royal Navy). We will attempt to climb up a 30ft rope 100 times each in a working day!! This is the verticle equivalent of 3000ft. Unbelievably this dizzy height is higher than the worlds tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (2722!).
There will aslo be a team event with the departments within HMS Raleigh taking part as groups. They will start at 0800hrs and every hour thereafter till 1600hrs. This is over the space of a working day aslo with a trophy being awarded to the department with the highest total.
It would be greatly appreciated by all concerned if you could support what is clearly a worthwhile cause and undoubtably a great achievement for all that take part.
Finally the PT Staff at HMS Raleigh would like to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
