Story
We are doing this bike ride to support an extremely worthy charity. We will be cycling just over 1000 miles in two weeks, hopefully finishing the ride with a few days to spare before school re-starts. Here is a brief description of the work that Wateraid does
Imagine the next time you go to turn on your tap, no water comes out. What would you do? Go to the shop? There are no shops. Even if there were any, you wouldn’t be able to afford anything in them. Go to a stream? Its dried up, there is no water in any streams. You’re no desperate, there is no way you can get clean water so you’re forced to drink stagnant water, ridden with disease and within hours you’ve lost more water than you gained in the first place.
This, thank God, is a hypothetical situation for us - however - it is NOT hypothetical by any means for a lot of people. This situation is so, so real for millions of people. There are 1.1 billion people in the world who are in this terrible situation. Water aid helps people in 26 countries by giving them access to clean, safe drinking water that won’t have adverse effects on their bodies. Good sanitation is also provided by WaterAid, helping to stop the spread of water borne diseases.
So please, donate to this charity: it really could save lives.
