Story
Thank you for visiting my mother Brenda McFadyen's fundraising page.
Brenda had a severe stroke on 9 July 2007, and sadly died of heart failure on 22 August 2007. She was a vibrant, healthy, beautiful and kind lady. Her life was devoted to love and service, both to her family, and in the wider community. Beloved wife to Phillip, sister to Ron, mother of three children, Rachel, Anna and Andrew, grandmother to Angus, mother-in-law to Janel and PJO, Brenda was only in her early sixties when she died and is deeply mourned.
She was a talented gardener, artist, businesswoman, teacher and homemaker - and a wonderful dancer who performed until June 2007. Her sudden illness and untimely death were a terrible shock to her family and friends.
After she was admitted to hospital with the stroke, medical investigation found that she had a rare disease, amyloidosis, caused by mylenoma - which had probably contributed to both the heart failure and the stroke. Early diagnosis and treatment of heart disease or stroke susceptability can save many lives each year. Heart disease and stroke account for nearly half of all deaths in the UK.
CORDA (http://www.corda.org.uk/ ) is a charity that funds specialist high quality research into the prevention of heart disease and stroke using early, non-invasive diagnosis and treatment.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: CORDA preventing heart disease and stroke will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate what you can.
Many, many thanks for your support.
