Story

This Autumn myself and a colleagues will be attempting to raise vast sums of money for charity competing in the very first Cushman & Wakefield Jailbreak! Quite simply, we have 30 hours to make it as far away from our Portman Square office as we possibly can, without spending any money - all in aid of a fantastic charity, Schools Around The World.

The Challenge
At midday on Thursday 2nd October, the race begins. We will attempt to beg, borrow, probably not steal, but hopefully blag our way as far as possible within 30 hours. That simple. We’ll travel by land, sea and air, however possible with whoever possible in order to raise as much money as possible.

The Team
The two hopefuls in this team are Andrew Marshall and Rory Turner, a youthful team of property professionals working both in the West End & Out of Town market for Cushman & Wakefield. Whilst each member brings something unique to the team the three are united in the passion for bullsh*tting their way around the globe and their ability to spin a decent yarn – although how decent is yet to be seen.

The Charity
Schools Around The World is a brilliant charity started in 2005, which aims to help widen the horizons of young people (11-25 year olds) whose opportunities are limited by their domestic, social or financial circumstances. SATW aims to give these young people opportunities for improved education, help nurture their aspirations and promote their personal growth.  They currently support schools across Europe, The US and Africa.

Fundraising
Whilst this may sound like an elaborate ruse for a free holiday, I can assure you otherwise, we need to be back at work on Monday morning! And not only will we be asking people to sponsor us (preferably per mile) but we will also give people the option to throw a few curve balls in there – we are willing to do literally (read almost) anything en route to maximize donations. Want us to go somewhere specific to embarrass ourselves – if you can name it (and pay for it) we will do it. Schools Around The World have recently opened a school in Tanzania, which is 4,479 miles from Portman Square. What an achievement it would be to arrive there (although somewhat unlikely in 30 hours). Some fun milestones we thought would be worth mentioning are;

- Make it to any of the Schools Around The World Schools
- Make it across the Equator
- Make it to Invercargill, South Island New Zealand – the furthest point possible in 30 hours from - London
- Make it back in one piece

Sponsorship
Our aim is to raise as much money as possible and then use our efforts to leverage our transport – the more we raise the more likely we are to get help from people with trains/flights/hitchhiking etc. We are asking people to sponsor us in whichever way they can – you can donate a taxi ride to Heathrow, you can donate a sum of money or even better sponsor us for every mile we make.  You could even buy us some flights if you were feeling extra generous!!!
