Story
In 2021 I raised £3,000 for Sepsis research by walking (virtually) from Lands End to John O Groats, 874 miles.
I amazed myself and everyone else by completing the trek in just 17 weeks.
After a short break I decided to walk back. This time it took a couple of months longer but I still managed to walk approaching 2,000 miles in a year. Not bad for a 75 year old.
Spurred on by my 2021 efforts I am now walking Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, over 2250 miles.
It will be tough and if am to reach my goal by the end of 2022 I need to average almost 50 miles a week.
My daughter Caroline has bought me a new pair of walking boots to speed me on my way. My current boots are in a sorry state after my efforts so far.
If you are able to help me as I plod ever onwards I would be so grateful and you will be helping the good people from Sepsis Research in their battle against this silent killer.
And if you do make a donation just take a moment to remember Jean.
Thanks for reading this and please read the following message from Sepsis Research.
Sepsis Research FEAT is a registered charity (SC049399) and we are the UK’s only sepsis research charity. Sepsis accounts for around 50,000 deaths in the UK every year - that's more than breast and bowel cancer combined. We don't understand enough about sepsis and the biological processes that can lead to serious illness or even death. That is why we urgently need to increase funding:- to raise awareness of sepsis- for research: to understand the processes that lead to sepsis, to design effective treatments for it & to help save lives.
