Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The plan was to complete various challenges in 2020 and raise £4,000 in the year that marked 40 years of Romsey Mills doing fantastic work - so that's £100 for every year of this charity which provides invaluable support to people in our communities, making a real long-term difference to people's lives.

Well, it didn't quite happen: after the Cambridge Half-Marathon in March 2020 it all ground to a halt, witha brief reprieve for Lurcher Tilda to bag a few munros with me in the summer in Scotland.

Romsey Mill did not grind to a halt: the team responded fantastically, providing a real life-line for struggling young people and families during Covid and now continuing, building on relationships made. And not only did their work continue and demand for it grow but the funding challenges continue unabated, too.

So I continue with challenges for me and Tilda till the target is reached: check back for updates - and if you possibly can, please (continue to) support Romsey Mill.

2022 included once again the Cambridge Half, The Allendale Challenge and the Durham Dales Challenge. 2023 brought with it again the Allendale Challenge (in doubtful weather) and the two munros of An Teallach in the North West Highlands of Scotland (in glorious weather). Plus a crazy Shortened Short McWilliams Round in the Cheviots (28 miles). I also tried to climb Agkathes in the White Mountains but when the low cloud came down I decided, being on my own, to be sensible and turn back rather than persevere across a pathless very rocky route with no visibility! Better luck in 2024, I hope.
