Story
So this year, I've been brave and signed up to play in the UK Forum All Stars Ice Hockey Tournament after just one season with my uni team (hence the page picture!) and after sitting safely in the stands and spectating at the 2012 event in Cardiff last year!
The UK Forum All Stars has been running for a fair few years and is an event which promises to bring out the best of what the UK has to offer in terms of hockey. It gathers together people from all over the country who love the sport, to indulge in a bit of summer rivalry between seasons to raise money for great causes.
I'll be playing for the Breast Cancer Care team in this years event; a charity which needs very little introduction but will get it anyway! Breast Cancer Care deals with the direct effects of breast cancer and provide support and detailed care for patients and their families.
Almost everyone has been touched by cancer in some way, myself included, after my mum was diagnosed with cancer some 9 years ago. We were some of the fortunate ones, and mum made a full recovery, but this doesn't distract from how great support charities like Breast Cancer Care were during this time.
Any little bit of help that you can give will be gratefully recieved, by me, the other members of my team and everyone impacted by the charity.
Next time you're out - buy one less shot and donate the proceeds instead... If you think about it, I'm saving you a hangover, and helping you earn 'goodie points'! :P
But really, thank you for any bit of support I receive and I'm sure there will be a million crazy pictures and stories of me epically winning past Jay (Chard) and scoring some goals. ;)
..........And pigs will fly too.
