Story
As many of you know, I have twice been diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (ACC) in March 2007 & in December 2010. ACC is a very rare form of cancer and a mere 35 out of every 10million people are diagnosed with ACC of the salivary gland - unfortunately I’m one of those 35. After the cancer reoccurred in December 2010, I underwent chemotherapy & radiotherapy as well as major surgery which resulted in permanent facial disfigurement.
But, I don’t want to be seen as a victim - I am a survivor - and I want to give something back! Therefore I’m going for a short, 10-day stroll up the mountains of Peru next May 2012 on behalf of Macmillan Cancer and I need your kind support. I hope you guys can give a little and as the saying goes, it helps a lot.
We all know someone who has suffered with cancer so in my thoughts on this trek will be my Mum, who we very sadly lost to cancer in 1995, my friend Cath, who we lost in 2008, and my brother’s father-in-law Les who is currently battling this terrible disease. Sadly Les passed away on Christmas Day. Rest In Peace Les.
Thank you for your support.
