In August of 2014, I and a number of other Loughborough students will be trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp and summiting the Himalayan peak of Kala Patthar. We will be attempting this challenge in support of the great charity Help for Heroes and if all goes well we should hopefully be joined along the way by a number of recovering servicemen and women! 

Help for Heroes supports veterans and serving personnel who have been wounded or injured, or have become sick, as a result of serving their country. Additionally their families and dependents receive support from the Charity as they care for their loved one, and adapt to the new challenges that they face. The primary focus is on those affected by recent and current conflicts due to the urgency and extent of their needs. Help for Heroes is a tri-service military charity, providing support to full time, reservist servicemen and women and veterans from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.

The journey to Mount Everest will be a huge challenge in itself and the push to the summit of Kala Patthar a step on from that. Doing this for such an amazing charity and for so many deserving people is motivation enough to get us to the top, and any donations you can spare will push us that bit further!
