***Breaking news - alas Chris Brogan has fractured ankle so is only going to be with us in spirit. He plans to make up for not making it, by doing a sponsored ride when he is better. Get well soon Chris.***
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving pages.... raising money for all the lads doing this challenge.
I have a dream..... that one day a man, woman or child will knock on my door and reminisce with me about a little girl that they remember from years before - in the playground, park, garden, home or school classroom. That girl was Tugela Rose Frankel or Tiggy age 7 and a bit.
So many of you have already given so much support, friendship and money, but I am yet to do a personal challenge. So I am cycling for Tiggy in her memory, and not forgetting my dad/Richard and his dog Matzo; they all died together in the road traffic accident 11.08.2008 on the A1.
I devised a week off to find a remote place far from cars, to challenge myself and any others that had the time and inclination:
...... 4th June 2011, 320 miles cycling from Oban through the Outer Hebrides and northern scotland to Inverness, 7 days, camping gear, sun glasses, a posse of lads with peaking physical fitness, well toned thighs and bucket loads of sweat, guts and determination... and of course a few million midges!
Kids4kids was a charity Tiggy showed interest in for friends to give to instead of her 7th birthday presents. Tiggy loved nature and wanted to help children in Africa; Kids4kids raise money to help children in Darfur.
I also want to raise money for Tyndale Hospice at Home and so there is a seperate JustGiving page for that. After the accident we were supported hugely by lots of people, but more recently our girls have been helped by two 'Rainbow days' organised by this charity to help kids going through bereavement. They also provide valuable care to families and patients facing terminal cancer.
The posse so far are: Ben Frankel, Nat Haslam, Roy Kroese, Toby Goold, Peter Hetherington, James Hutton, John Kirkpatrick ... others may follow!
All of us are raising money on these two JustGiving pages, So please dig deep and donate now. Any money raised is warmly received by these two charities, please see their websites for details.
